St. Thomas Brewery Bar is a cornerstone of Mala Strana’s historic heritage, now restored by Rocco Forte as a place for residents and people working locally to feel at home. Our famous and historic cellar bar is now housed in the old monastery brewery, where, by the royal order of Charles IV, the Augustinian friars brewed the St. Thomas beer since 1352 until 1952. St. Thomas Brewery Bar now exclusively offers the famous St. Thomas beer once again, the design of the furniture captures the cubism style of the 1920s and traditional Czech cuisine is available – Tapas Style!

The signature Svaty Tomas Tmave (St Thomas) beer is made up of an ancient beer recipe that has been passed down by the Augustinian monks who still live on the premises and neighbour Augustine Hotel Prague. Augustine monks, in conjunction with Augustine Hotel Prague, have handed over the secret brew formulae to the trusted brew-master Mr. Matuska with the sole purpose of retrieving this ancient recipe to quench the thirst of local residents and hotel guests.
