The company Průmstav has a many-years tradition. It originated after declaration of independent national companies on October 28, 1951 and was then named "Výstavba rudných dolů a hutí, n.p." (VRDAH, n.p.). It carried out industrial structures with 6,700 workers. During the years 1952-1953 some specialised organisational sections were excluded, and on contrary divisions from other entities were included.  The change of production character was also officially expressed as to January 1, 1953 when the enterprise was renamed to Průmstav Praha, n.p. The firm in particular focused on industrial structures and fully completed housing structures. Between 1953 and 1990, the expansion of Průmstav Praha allowed it to become one of Czechoslovakia's largest construction companies, with as many as 10,000 employees.
