According to its website, Lucerna is the oldest permanently-operating cinema in Europe and where the first sound movie premiered.

Seating 500, it serves as a premiere theatre of Czech movies, as a place of various festivals of European films, and special shows to commemorate individual film personalities. Lucerna is a part of the shopping complex that occupies a whole city block and has entrances on Vaclavske Namesti, Vodickova, Stepanska and V Jame.
