It's been little over 2 years since MBank opened its Czech branch. I did sign up for their EKonto at that time, being very satisfied customer of the parent Polish MBank for about 7 years then. What won me in Poland was their "yes, can do" attitude. So was expecting the same in Czech Rep.
First disappointment came when I had to spend 20 min on the phone explaining that my passport ID is not my Czech ID number - issue only resolved when I demanded to speak to senior person.
Back, month ago, I had another conversation with Czech MBank. This time around I learned that it's not possible to put me through to someone senior, and when asked why, consultant on the phone said, the general terms of running bank account forbid that - as you may expect there's nothing in there about not putting people through to senior people when they ask for it. When I asked which paragraph, she told me she'll find it, and put me on hold for 15 min. During that time I did phone Polish MBank, only to find out don't have any such regulations. I also asked Czech consultant on the phone if there's any difference between two types of cards - I had to ask 3 times before getting any, as it turned out, wrong answer.
So I did file a complaint, and guess what. I even received answer - in short "I find behavior of our consultant OK". In MBank's opinion it's OK to be on hold for 15 min, waiting for non-existent information, and provide wrong information.
So it took 2 years for MBank Czech to join other Czech banks when it comes to quality of service and their typical "no, can't do", "no, don't care" attitude.
If you expect service to be any better than other banks - don't, it's the same. Why one star then, if it's the same everywhere? Well, because the expectations were set much higher. It would have been 5 out of 10, should they admit they made a mistake - everyone can. But in MBank's Czech opinion - everything is OK.
