ABN AMRO Bank has been an active player on the Czech market since 1991; first its presence had the form of a representation office in Prague which later on (1 July 1993) changed into a Prague Branch with a full banking licence.
Operating in the Czech Republic, ABN AMRO Bank focuses on providing high quality services in the fields of corporate and investment banking for select corporate, institutional and public sector clients.
ABN AMRO Bank also provides its services in the Czech Republic through its subsidiary, ABN AMRO Asset Management, a.s. The key activity of the latter company is the asset management and investment advisory to private and institutional clients. In addition, the company offers a wide range of ABN AMRO Funds.
In 2000 ABN AMRO entered the Czech pension insurance market through the acquisition of a hundred per cent share in Å KODA Pension Fund followed by the acquisition of a seventy per cent share in JISTOTA a KORUNA Pension Fund. Both the pension funds were mergered at the end of the year 2000 under the name of ABN AMRO Pension Fund.
Established in 1824, ABN AMRO is a prominent banking group at present, with over 3,500 branches, a staff of some 110,000 and total assets of EUR 604.6 billion (as per September 2002). Based on total assets, ABN AMRO Bank is No. 7 in Europe and No. 14 in the world. The prestige rating agencies - Standard & Poor´s and Moody´s - have awarded it their ratings of AA- and Aa3, respectively, so that there are good reasons to rank ABN AMRO among the most credible banks in the world.
