The mission of the Prague Society for Protecting Animals is to protect all animals, especially the homeless, forlorn and abused. Â
The Society, which was re-named in 1991, has been performing this work for decades. Each year we rescue approximately one thousand homeless cats. These cats are provided with veterinary care and sterilization. We attempt to place adoptable cats in loving homes and when this is not possible, the cats are returned to the wild. We appreciate and value animal life in much the same way we value human life. We recognize that animals suffer and feel pain, and especially those that are domesticated, require our attention and care. Daily, we see hungry and ill animals, many abandoned by their owners, foraging for food around dustbins. Other abandoned animals are often found in the forest bound to a tree and left to their fate. It is not unusual to find two day old kittens left on the street in a cardboard box.
