Manages the day-to-day, moderately complex payroll tax activities of a newly established Corporate Shared Service (CSS) payroll operations center to include payroll tax research, planning, processing, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Role accountabilities will include:
·         Manages routine aspects of preparation of tax forms and returns; ensures compliance with all applicable payroll tax laws and regulations; reviews prepared payroll tax documents and reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness of filing with tax authorities.
·         Engages in necessary research and professional education to stay current with all applicable payroll tax laws and regulations.
·         Consults with the CSC Corporate tax department, as necessary, to research discrepancies and resolve issues.
·         Maintains all required payroll tax records, and ensures all records are accurate and up to date.
·         Monitors payroll system configuration relative to payroll taxes to ensure it’s accurate and up to date.
·         Manages the compilation and filing of required reports for governmental agencies, insurance providers, other companies, and employees to comply with government or other reporting requirements.
·         Interacts with employees and key business unit customers to address payroll tax questions and issues.
·         Manages the preparation and timely distribution of year-end payroll tax statements for employees, as required by applicable laws.
·         Develops, and monitors departmental performance against budgets and service levels (SLAs).
·         Selects and hires departmental employees. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work products. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Motivates and rewards employees, including awarding pay increases, bonuses, and promotions within established budgets and guidelines.
·         Maintains positive relations with key customer representatives.
Requirements:
·         University degree in business administration, accounting, finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
·         Extensive European payroll tax or payroll experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial capacity
·         experience using SAP HCM for payroll processing strongly preferred.
·         Experience working with payroll and tax laws of multiple European countries
·         Experience working with auditing, and generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software.
·         Good personal computer and business solutions software skills.
·         Good communications skills to interact with employees and senior management.
·         Good analytical and problem solving skills.
·         Good interpersonal skills for interacting effectively with other departments and for answering employee questions.
·         Good leadership skills to train and manage staff.
·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
·         Must be fluent in English, additional language abilities are an advantage
