SUMMARY:

To lead the definition and compliance auditing of technical and architectural policies, standards, and guidelines.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to the development of IT Services strategy in the use of technology


• Through the aegis of the department, facilitate the development of, and compliance with,  infrastructure standards, including:

- Communications
- Enterprise servers
- Storage
- Desktop
- Email
- Collaboration tools
- Directories
- Secure access
- Middleware
- DBMS
- Instrumentation

• Evaluate all proposals for the introduction of new technology and ensure that the risks of destabilising the operational environment are minimized


• Through the aegis of the DA review development programs for compliance with architectural standards


• Initiate and participate in network decision-making and projects through representation on global steering groups


• Work with representatives of relevant  business domains, as required


• Evaluate all bids above a defined value (100K EURO) that respond to an RFQ from a business partner and all proposals to use novel (unproven technology) to ensure risks to delivery and potential for cost escalation have been taken into account


• Review Design documents for all Build projects above 100K Euros to ensure that its feasibility and consistency with IT Services design principles


• Review technology strategy decisions made by the IT Services Investment Committee and provide recommendations to correct any divergence from decisions made


• Review investment decisions made by the IT Services Investment Committee and provide recommendations to correct any divergence from decisions made


• Develop agenda items in pursuit of the mandate to set infrastructure standards and review roadmaps


• Develop agenda items in pursuit of the mandated development program review agenda


• Research technical background to agenda items for discussion, including market analysis of relevant technology spaces and proposed vendors


• Partner with Innovation and Business/IT strategy units


• Chair the monthly meetings of the Design Authority or similar council


• Produce minutes to reflect resolutions agreed


• Present recommendations to the IT Services Management Board at its monthly meeting


• Feed back results to the DA and to the community impacted by the agreed recommendations


• Maintain a DPDHL web site to publish approved Technical White Papers


• Mentorship and Guidance to the different enterprise architects.


• Preparing final decision papers for CTO aligning aspects from different architects.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Senior strategic and operational IT management experience gained in a large fast moving multi-national corporation (12 years)


• Solid experience in a solution delivery context, preferably in a Architecture of large scale, distributed systems (12 years) 


• Extensive negotiation experience in the technical and business domain, and understanding of key relevant markets (12 years)


• Proven track record of successfully leading global teams (12 years)
