Data Quality Manager (Shared Service Centre, Finance & Accounting), Prague

Position summary

The purpose of the Data Quality Manager is to drive relentlessly to improve the quality of the master data supporting Accounting processes in order to minimize rework and increase workflow in the execution of these processes. To achieve this, the Data Quality Manager should have a deep understanding of the lifecycle of master data, its sources and uses. Also, in this position, the Data Quality Manager should be involved in the identification and prioritization of areas of process failure and analyze the commercial implications arising from data quality issues.

The role will be expected to proactively make the case for focus areas to the Process Directors and relevant projects/initiatives as well as to act on their direction to support specific process-led improvement initiatives. Moreover, the Data Quality Manager will be able to recommend and assist in the selection and implementation of appropriate tools to support the continued quality, measurement and reporting of data.

Principle accountabilities

• At the direction of the Process Directors and existing projects/initiatives, conduct audits of data supporting a specific process area. Identify who collects the data, what data is collected, where it comes from, who uses it, where it is stored, how and how frequently it is kept up to date. Understand and map the existing processes and controls (preventative and detective) around the data lifecycle (capture, maintenance, deactivation, archiving).
• From the audit, perform a one-off analysis of the data to understand where errors have arisen – which part of the process, which attributes – and the consequences for process failure and rework.
• Analyze the relationship between data quality and process failure rates. Establish the indicative cost of data quality (sales lost, costs of rework, penalties incurred etc.). Prioritize the areas of focus for improving data quality based on avoiding the cost of process failure.
• Where appropriate make recommendations to the Process Director / management for changes to process and standard operating procedures that would reduce the incidence of data quality issues arising.
• Create processes and rules to efficiently and repeatedly extract, transform, measure and report on the prioritized areas of data. Produce a data quality dashboard.
• With the Process Directors, establish targets for improvig data quality and support the appropriate resources in using the reporting to correct data errors proactively.
• Measure and report on the impact of targeted interventions and learning arising.
• Work alongside the Data Quality Governors, EIS Data Quality Expert, Data Stewards and the Sales Incentive Manager

Skills & Qualifications

• Process analysis and improvement
• Manipulation of large databases to derive insights
• Financial and numerical analysis
• Ability to develop the relevant systems and process knowledge at speed
• Ability to think “out of the box” and a can-do attitude to solve challenges
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken, additional European languages would be an advantage
Preferred requirements:
• Experience in Data Quality Management and bespoke or generic data quality management tools
• Experience within a multi-national environment and an ability to work in a matrix organization
• Healthcare industry experience and knowledge of Covidien Policy & Procedures
