The regulations regarding documentation seem unclear. For example, the White Wedding agency state you cannot be married in a Catholic church if you are divorced. However, we have spoken to a priest who says this is not true if you have an annulment (Catholic church letter stating it does not consider the previous marriage valid). The decision to agree to a marriage in a Catholic Church after a divorce appears to be down to the individual Priest and not a hard written rule. As regards the Apostille, in England the documents are stamped at the Legislation office in Milton Keynes. White Wedding also state that apostilles cannot be more than six months old. Another agency say only the no impediment document has to be no older than six months old. It is not clear whether that is at the time of the wedding or at the time they are produced to the Matrika. Elsewehere it says un less a date is specified, the assumption is the impediment document is valid for 6 months. That implies you could have a statement stating expiry of 12 months or you could have a statement stating no expiry. I will hopefully have all the answers this weekend and upate! As regards translation, Ethnic Access Link, Worcester translate English documents. It cost me Ł112 for decree absolute, birth, marriage,no impediment. Other documents for Church purposes such as baptism, annulment can be translated by a non registered body e.g. a friend. What is clear is that you have to go to police station no more than a week before your wedding to get a resident permit.

"The stamp can be obtained at the Foreign Police – not the Prague 4 office that handles visas, thankfully, but a separate office in Prague 3" The above is no longer true. One must now get stamped at the infamous Prague 4 Foreign Police. Enjoy!

Laws seem to vary from office to office. Matrika in Frydek-Mistek require an englsh citizen to be registered as being in the country from the local police department in FM. Point to note is that outside of Prague requirements may differ and there is no point in arguing about the Hague convention. Just do it.

Actually, the Certificate to No Impediment to Marriage is issued immediately from most embassies in the form of an oral affadavit...
